About Me

My Background:
My name is Danny Murphy.  I’m a happily married man and father to an amazing little boy.  I have a bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine and I’m a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach and Corrective Exercise Specialist.   I’ve been a personal trainer for the last 10 years.  I work with people of all ages and abilities: young and old, beginner to advanced.  I have helped people to achieve a variety of goals from weight loss to athletic improvement and everything in between.  I hope to help you with your goals.
Why this Blog?
I started this blog as a way for me to express my feelings about exercise, nutrition and overall wellness.  I hear all too often that people don’t have the time, money or desire to take care of themselves.  I’m writing this blog to show you that, in little time, you can exercise and with a little planning you can eat healthier.  You don’t need a gym or fancy equipment  to lose weight, get stronger, run farther, (insert your goal here), etc.  You just need a little will power to make better choices for your life.
Favorite Activities
Ice Hockey- nothing beats sports for a workout.  I still play pick up games when I get the chance.  Golf- I’m an average golfer working to improve this year.  Miscellaneous- Rollerblading, running, biking, swimming, kayaking.  I’m up for anything outside.  Extra Miscellaneous- Bagpiping… yes that’s right playing the bagpipes.  I almost count this as an exercise.  Have you ever seen people marching down the street trying to place these things? It’s not easy!
My Certifications
National Strength and Conditioning Association’s (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning SpecialistCertified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCSs) are professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. They conduct sport-specific testing sessions, design and implement safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs and provide guidance regarding nutrition and injury prevention. Recognizing that their area of expertise is separate and distinct, CSCSs consult with and refer athletes to other professionals when appropriate.
National Academy of Sports Medicine’s (NASM) Corrective Exercise SpecialistThe NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (NASM-CES) Advanced Specialization was developed in response the growing need for professionals with the ability to assist clients experiencing musculoskeletal impairments, muscle imbalances or rehabilitation concerns. The NASM-CES provides the advanced knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully work with clients suffering from musculoskeletal impairments, imbalances or post-rehabilitation concerns.

ANTHONY SPINALE

Danny has helped me overcome numerous aches/pains due to a chronic condition of mine. While I’ll need to be on many meds for the rest of my life, working weekly with Danny for the last 3 months has introduced me to alternative approaches to getting fit, overcoming my symptoms, as well as providing the emotional support component which many trainers, frankly speaking, just don’t get. He does. He listens-well. I have a long road ahead, but he has been a driving factor in my weight loss, renewed energy, and overall ability to accomplish more out of every day. 4 Real!
Now, as for the bagpiping, well, everyone has at least 1 thing wrong with them…ANTHONY a.k.a. newly pimpn’ prep
